From the Inside
What is Burning Man?
Its like a churning sea of elation, longing, dispair, beauty, snobbery, bliss, wonder, dissatisfaction, and completion churning in and out of tents and tarps, sculptures, fuzzy white couches, smoke, parachutes, RVs, fire, buses, temples, vans, dungeons, cars, circuses, bicycles, flashing lights completely permeated with The DUST. You will roll in the dust, you will breathe it in, you will eat it and you will sleep in it. And you will become nostalgic from the smell. You may discover its magic.

Who We Are
The Playa Traveling Cirkus installs "playitas" all over the country. A playita is a space where Radical Self-Expression and all of the Principles of Burning Man are made possible. A playita occupies a regular ol' place and makes it an extraordinary space. We just occupied NYU...where will we go next?

a letter from the PTC
On 12.05.11, four students from Richard Schechner's Ritual, Play and Performance class "channeled the spirit of the playa" by inviting us to install a mini-Burning Man on the 6th floor of Tisch School of the Arts.
Burning Man takes place annually in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Each year Black Rock City is built, creating a space Burners refer to as the "playa"
It was our job to bring a little of the playa to the Performance Studies Department at NYU. Hence "playita NYU."
We are the Playa Traveling Cirkus, or PTC. You could saw we are Burning Man on tour, at it is really up to you whether we exist at all.
For our first project, we helped four students occupy NYU! We had an amazing burn...but was it good for you?
